This is my first time using vortech pumps so not sure if it's normal.
The pump is second hand not new.
The dry side has a temperature of 57°C/134.6°F
When I Google it they say its normal to be hot but I didn't expect that sort of heat

That is definitely not abnormal. The main influences on temperature are alignment, setting, and airflow. Your post says mp40. Is it QD? The non QD can take quite a bit of tinkering to get the alignment just right but even the QD could use some adjustment. Airflow isn't too critical unless ofc it is contained in a cabinet or something. Mp40s are next level. Very cool acquisition!

It's the QD version, dry and wet side seem to be inline correctly. The pump isn't making any noise, ive had it at full power in various mode and seems to be fine.
Just the heat to dry side is producing seems a little high

It's my first vortech, I'm sick of maxspect now Too many issues!

brought a second hand MP40QD just to see how they are. I'd need another one possibly more two to get to water movement needed

I have had my pair of mp40qd for 8 years and there is always one that is hotter than the other. It can be very hard to tell but sometimes they are vibrating ever so softly. I adjust them mainly because of noise. It can tricky to get them just right and often I just let it be. I don't know exactly why they vary so much in heat but it hasn't been an issue for me so far. And ofc there is a huge difference for electronics between warm and HOT.
