MP40 or Tunze 6095... Which one is best for me????

Planning my 75 gallon tank upgrade and today's question is which power head in your opinion would work best for my tank? The tank is a standard 75 (48x18x21), which power head would cover the entire tank the most? I'm leaning towards the tunze because I think it has a wider flow pattern but I'm not sure so I'm looking for some expert advice.. Also note I only want to use 1 of these, I may put a smaller power head at the back to keep stuff from building up behind the rock work but I don't want 1 on each side of the tank. My rock work will be a 2 small islands type scape.

The mp40 will cover about 24" of tank. Two would be nice enough in a 75 Gallon.

You'd want at least two 6095's as well.

Honestly, "wide" is oversold IMO. You should be looking at a set of 6055's and/or 6045's that have some reach.

Sorry I missed that the first time through....one powerhead won't cut it for long, if at all.

If you're trying to be sensitive about having powerheads in view, then consider some other options:

For one, any of the Tunze pumps mentioned can be placed on/near/within your rockwork and hidden by using one of Tunze's Stream Rock's.

For another, the Turbelle® nanostream® 6040 is amenable to living down behind the rocks in the back out of view and still doing their job to flow the whole tank. Two of those would be a great start and they're only $140/ea.

If it's not about the view, then I'd just start getting used to the idea of having 3 or 4 powerheads in the tank....this will be your best setup in the long term.

WOW 3 or 4 power heads, now that I wasn't expecting.. So do you think 3 or 4 smaller units would work better compared to 2 large units?

Yep. Almost without question.

Feel free to build up to the 3 or 4 one at a time if costs are an issue, but it's not worth thinking about doing the tank with just one.

3 or 4 is going to enable you a lot more. No limits on placement, no "blind spots" where there's no flow, etc.
