I don't know that I am happy with my MP40. Not that there is something wrong with it, it's almost brand new. But I don't like having to clean around it, the vibration of ramping up and down, and not being able to redirect the flow. I'm seriously considering selling them (I have 2) and getting a WP40. They are certainly more cost effective. I don't run my MP40's off my Apex anyhow so that really isn't an issue. Opinions?

It's tough to compare the two TBH.

I have both and I like both however, I guess if money was no object, I'd strictly have the MP40's on my tank.

I personally think it's a matter of preference. With the cost of the WP40 being so much cheaper, you could buy a new one every year for about 4 years before you come up to the same price of the MP40.

Most have concerns of excess heat being generated and with the MP40 obviously that's not going to contribute any to the tank.

Like I mentioned earlier, it's all am matter of personal preference and the dent on your wallet.

The only downfall of the vortechs are that they cannot be used on a false back wall. Other than that, I'd pick a vortech anytime.

I have the jebao wp and really enjoy it. From what I've read they are quite compared to the vortec. I wouldn't spend the money on the vortec.

The vortech is the winner if money isnt an issue, slick design(easy to pull the wetside out for a quick cleaning), not as big of an eye sore. My friend have the wp40, and he isnt happy with the purchase, he said its too loud and take up too much room.

I live having a combination now. I used to have 2 mp40's, now have gone to one wp25 and one mp40. The wp pulses and the mp40 reefcrests. Them seem to do really well together.

IMO they are about the same noise level. You still have to clean around any powerhead. I'd stick with the Vortech instead of taking the hit on reselling it.

I have both pumps. While the wp40 is best bang for your buck, it's bulky and just as noisy as my mp40s. In the end it basically boils down to aesthetics and controllability. Is the extra controls and the cleaner look of the mp40 worth it to you.

As far as not being able to aim glow with the mp40, it's not needed. The flow pattern is so wide with them that it will get flow to any area without having to aim it.

i vote mp40.i like the way they look on tanks.no wires in the tank.plenty of flow.but its up to you.just dont sell the mp40's until you have tried the wp40.

Wp25 pushes a ton of water. If my tank were 130 or less I'd be looking at the wp25 route and not consider the 40. These things are strong
