Hi Everyone,

I have a 110 gallon tank. I have two Mp40 that is want to place in the tank. How high off the bottom to I place them. and how much flow is adequate.

I have 140 lbs of live rock in the tank now. Getting ready to add frags

I wouldn't put them any lower than about 6" off the bottom to avoid a sand storm. As far as flow that depends on what type of corals you plan to keep and what kind of water movement they require.

What are the 110's dimensions?

Sounds like quite a bit of live rock – there's a good chance you could take some out if you felt like it. Sell it or trade for corals....whatever.

Extra just takes swim room away from the fish and grow-out space away from corals later on.

(Depends on the quality of the rock too....some rock is just heavier and therefor it takes more weight.)

I use the return Line/s to create surface agitation. In my reefer 525xl I placed the 2 mp40's about 6-8" below the waterline centered on each end of the tank. I run them on the "reef crest" setting.

I originally had two MP's on opposite ends of the tank about 2/3's the way up from the bottom (five foot 90 DT). I then watched Dana Riddles talk he gave at MACNA, and now have four MP40's and one MP10 in my tank (two on the end glass and three on the back glass).

You don't want to go so low you stir up the sand.
