That entirely depends on where your need for flow is, the aquascape you have and a number of other factors! Maybe share some pictures..
I'd ask myself what I wish to achieve, stick it in and play around a fair bit. Use an air stone / pump to make bubbles so you can see how your flow works the tank.

For me I would think doing one on left side 1/4 distance down from top front, one left side 1/4 distance up from bottom back and do opposite on the other end. Hope this makes sense. And as stated by @CasperOe alot depends on the rockscape. And the flow of your returns. You can always move them depending on your dead spots and play with different programs and speeds. Keep in mind that if you get it too close to the surface it will suck air.
