Hey guys so i have a 74 gallon tank and got 2mp40s not long ago, the thing is that the flow has been getting me confused. I know that most people use reefcrest mode for their tanks, im just trying to figure out what position do you guys suggest for this aquascape? I just have LPS and softies although i do want to get into sps in the future once i have certain issues under control. I also have a reefbreeders rpm on pulse on in the back of the tank as you see in the video. I like how my torches move on pulse mode but is it as good as reefcrest mode overall? Any opinions?

I have 2 mp 40s on a 65. I use reef link. Coral lab recommends one on constant the other on reef crest and vice versa throughout the day. I do this except I use tidal swell and NtS. They are each 2.5 hours full program.

Im thinking of getting reeflink since i can mix it up throught the day. Do you have them positioned on the sides or back?

Mine are on the sides. Not exactly even. Coral lab also recommends as Little blockage from rocks. Set up my structure with the power heads in mind.

I think something wrong with the pics. I clicked only one ooops

I've heard awesome things about placing one mp near the surface on one side of the tank and one near the middle to bottom on the other side with low varying flow to create a gyre effect!

I like them both 2/3rds of the way up. One on pulse, one on reef crest, then alternate throughout the day.

Yes i would do something similar to the way WWC does once i get a reeflink.

Yes i got one about 6 inches from the sand on the right and one 6 inches from the water surface, each one offset eachother. So far i like the flow much more now since there where some deadspots before. Now my question is whats the best mode for LPS corals and some SPS? I heard lagoon and gyre mode are best for that?

That's flawless placement in my opinion especially with the way your reef is structured! Personally, I don't have a massive tank and I do have a bit of LPS and easier SPS so what I did was build a taller rock structure and use my 1 mp10 in pulse mode about 2 inches from the surface at 35% power and intervals of about 1 second between pulses, and I positioned my SPS right in front of the mp10 and the LPS in the front of the rock structure so that it gets indirect flow from the mp10 as well as a current from the return pump. I will definitely have to change the placement of my SPS soon since it's way too high up right now but they seem to really enjoy the pulse.

Please mind the yogurt containers as I was acclimating some new goodies :) this was taken a day after setting up the new rock structure, SPS is barely visible but you can see the LPS placement and my mp10 is in the back of the tank behind the bucket on the left jus on top of the intake pump for my hang on refugium.
