Anyone run theirs at 100% constant or so? These things get pretty hot. I know it’s probably better to have a stronger pump and run it at a lesser percentage but the mp60s are way to strong/big. Any other thoughts would be great!

Is it burn your skin hot? Ive had a few mp40's and I remember the older ones getting fairly toasty, Yet they where around a decade old and working fine when I sold them. I wouldn't worry about it much unless it's super hot.

I run my MP40 @100% only when I want to annoy my fish, especially when they poop a lot, so I am creating turbulence/storm, for just 10 min or so.
Otherwise if budget allows you , I would add another MP40 and run them on fraction of the power.
That seem to be common practice now.
Generally running stuff on 100% wears it off faster.

What size tank are you providing flow for?
220 Gallon. 72” x 30 x 24”

thinking of running a wwc style mode where one side runs 100% constant and the opposite side runs 100% reef crest and alternate.

Sps dominant tank with 4 mp40s. Two on each side.

I think most people run 60s and or gyers on those big set ups. Perhaps MP40 on a back wall to create turbulent flow in conjunction with the others.
