3 days ago, I took this beauty home from the local fish store. I never had one of these so I talked to the gentleman at the counter for about 30 minutes about how to take care of them. He recommended to put the foam guards that came with the mp40s on at night because he could get sucked into them in a new tank!

I usually have the Ron Swanson (I know more than you) mentality in fish stores. But I actually did what he told me.

The next morning even at lowest settings, I woke up my BTA stuck to the foam guard of the powerhead, shrunken the size of a pea and completely discolored. I for sure thought he was a goner!

Anyways, I did everything I could to revive him and here he is three days later! I still find little pink florescent dots around in the substrate, but other than that, full recovery!

Moral of the story is to follow directions!

Do you have any other inverts in that tank? (I can't really tell from that photo)...

If not, I assume you have some type of return pump from a sump or HOB or otherwise...? and there is some flow from that.

So maybe it would be a good idea to turn off the mp40s at night, and only let them run while you can keep an eye on things...

BTAs don't necessarily need a lot of flow, especially during their acclimation period.

It has been doing great, growing fast now after waiting a few days before feeding! It looks incredible and I am baffled that it recovered. Thought I wasted $70!

Glad it worked out. That’s a pretty small anemone to feed IMO definitely don’t feed it more than a small mysis shrimp. I would also recommend giving it time to heal without feeding it. They can survive by photosynthesis. Focus on good tank params

Mine got shredded in my quarantine tank even though my power head had a mesh guard. I just kept babying it with iodine and coral revive plus feeding every chance it’ll eat.
