MP40 vs MP40QD

How much quieter are the QD versus the non QD versions?

I have been sick the past three days and sleeping on the couch. My tank is directly below me in the basement running two mp40 on anti-sync NTM. Driving me nuts!!!! I went and shut them down, but got me thinking if the QD might be worth it.

Upgrade the controller itself, or go with the full QD unit and replace the two I have?

Its night and day. The Gyre is silent as well.

When I did the driver only, it was still noisy but I think it was because I had a messed up wetside. When I tried the QD wetside it was very similar to the QD.

Its amazing what the upgrade does to the pumps. Really worth the time and money to do the upgrade.

I've had a couple of the regular MP40's and they were pretty loud and eventually sold them. So when the MP40QD's came out I was still a little skeptical even with everybody saying how quiet they were. It took a few months but I'm glad I caved in to the hype.
They really are very quiet, and cheaper.
I would go all the way and get the whole new pump.

its insane how much more quiet they are compared to the "regular" mp40. I have on MP40QD that i won in the toys for kids raffle, took me a bit to get around to installing it and part of that was the fact of knowing I was gonna want to replace the others if it was so great. Got it hooked up and turned it on....had to put my face almost nest to it to hear it. the other two are SO loud in comparison. I will be getting two more asap. wish there was a sale or coupon, lol

I have three running and I have to look to the controller to see if they are on

Yep. Huge difference in noise for sure. The full QD moves more water too. I have 4 and notice a difference when I upgraded from regular.
