I have a 7 foot by 30" wide and 24" tall peninsula. On the short end, opposite the overflow one mp40 8" or so bwlow the surface. On 100% it occasionally sucks air from the surface. I would like to replace it with a mp60 to get more flow but suspect it will pull down even more air although it has a bigger cage and propeller. On the opposite side on both sides of the overflow I have 2 Rossmont 4100. SPS tank.

I have 2 mp60's in my 8' tank and occasionally have the same problem. I just lower them about a 1/2" or so and problem solved. With the larger propeller on the 60, a half inch would see a neglable difference in flow pattern.

Yup, there is but one solution for the 60, the 40 has a blocked side that can be turned up and if that fails you have to lower it.

The mp40 nor the 60 has a cage anymore made that blocks the air suck from the top. I have called Ecotech about it and they have no answer why they stopped making it. The mp60 would probably be great in this location if it had the similar cage like Tunze or now Rossmont.

How do you like the mp60? Do you have experience comparing it to the power of mp40?

I have both. Love em. I have 2 MP60's on opposite ends of my 8' tank running in anti sinc maxing out at about 85%. Lots of flow for my SPS dominated tank.
Also have an MP 40 on one end of the same tank for some fill in flow where some larger colonies were shading the flow from the 60's.
As far as comparing them, the 60's are definitely more powerful by at least 50% when comparing speed percentages apples to apples.
