MP40 - what AC/DC adapter do I need?

Hello all,

I got this dry side from a local yard sale. Looking into it the older models had 24V and the newer models have 32V adapters. I assume this is a 24V version but does anyone know how to tell? I know older ones than this have a white controller.

I believe that model is 24v DC. The newer QD (quiet drive) versions are 32v DC. I'm not sure if the 32v would also work on your model, but you can still find lots of places offering the 24v power supply.

Thank you for the response, I'm thinking 24V wouldn't hurt either way. There was a 32V adapter I found at the yard sale but there were hundreds of cables and I figured it would be best just to make sure I found a correct one for this unit. I'd rather provide less voltage than expected than more.

EcoTech support could probably confirm this 100%, but I don't think potentially running leas voltage is an issue (worst case scenario you just never achieve max flow rates).

I have a couple of older MP40's (bought new sometime around 2012) that were originally the white versions which I later upgraded to the quiet drives. It is indeed 24v. Below is a picture of one of them for you.

Thank you! Are you saying all quiet drives are 32V? The one I have is a black controller that says quiet drive.

No. I was just saying that I updated to the black quiet drive and I did not do anything with the power supply (I still use the 24v shown above and I had the original white casing mp 40's before). Below is what I did in the instructions.

I was just confirming for you that the 24volt power supply that I posted above is what I use with the exact same black quiet drive mp40wQD that you show in the picture.

You need to check the serial # with ecotech. They will tell you what generation it is.

Some history here to clarify some things.

The ES and WES (white drivers) used 24v power supplies. When the QD (black driver) came out, ecotech provided a path for those with the ES and WES to upgrade to the QD driver and keep the older dryside motor (one with the metal case). And if you kept the old ES and WES dryside, you got the benefit of a quieter motor, but you weren't able to achieve the newer speeds because you had to use the 24v power supply.

@mortician, the mp40 you show in the picture looks like a QD dryside (plastic case) in which case the correct power supply is 32V 1.875A.

Any idea where to find a low priced (but still decent quality) replacement power supply for one of these?
I cant seem to find the right spec ones anywhere and the actual ones from ecotech are like $60 +s/h

If it were me, I'd get whatever 32v 2A psu amazon sells.

You'll be hard pressed to find any ul listed power supplies on there, let alone a wide variety of 32v ones.

ok cool. wasnt sure if it being slightly higher amps would matter since the original power supply was 1.8A

and i can only find 1.6A or 2A in 32W

so then this one should be ok?
