Hello i have a mp40 that was manufactured 5yr ago. Labeled in pic as "mine".

I'm getting another from someone used and its from 2012. Pic of box attached.

Will both of these be compatible with the wireless synch and anti synch capabilities? Will it be easy to setup using this video from ecotech?

Wonder if I'll have firmware issues...any tips pls advice. I have a 75 mixed reef.
Thanks. ..

In my older mp40. I noticed I've been running it for long time in a thicker glass spacer setting.

I now adjusted to a 1/4"thickness for my 75g.

It's a slave to a newer mp40wes....in reef crest variable flow (orange)mode.
In some speeds it gives a squeaky squeaky sound. I restarted and that usually helps. Now today i cleaned the wet side, restarted and the propeller seems to spin slower than the outer pump. ...seems like slipping.

Could it be I've over tightened the nut? That must be only hand tightened always right?

I normally get the $20 prop washer pack every year.

Is it time for a new wet side?

Thanks

Sounds like the nut is too loose to me. You don't want to really torque it down since that's a plastic screw it's on, but finger tight might not cut it.

I've never really understood why people buy full wet sides, unless the cage or magnet has become compromised. Otherwise, the parts pack you mention has everything someone needs to fix an otherwise misbehaving wet side.

Agreed. If i hand tighten is loose. ..i can see the prop slipping. It can't be that the magnet in wet side is slipping.

I once used a plier to tighten and it wouldn't even rotate!

I'm finding hard to find that mid point where to tighten the nut.

Also do you guys adjust the nut often. How long you go before touching the nut on a fully running mp40wes?

Mind you I've moved to quiet drives now, but I never used to touch the nut unless I needed to replace the bushings. When cleaning, I'd give the whole wetside a vinegar bath.

I found backing the nut off from the point where they didn't spin freely to the point where they would just start to spin freely always worked.

Hello,
I have a spare wet side I keep outside DT. I stick it to a metal beam in my basement.

Will magnet in wet side loose its magnetic strength if stuck for long time?
