Do I need to run this all the time for a live rock and fish only tank? Would it help to decrease algae? My tank is 60 gallons with small fish do I want them getting blasted all day long?

I would leave it on 24/7. If you feel it's too much flow you can always turn it down and switch up modes.

My little fish even at the lower speed seem to have trouble swimming around. I have a yellow assessor and a firefish.

Maybe sell the mp40 for a mp10 then? I think a mp10 would be great in a 60 gallon

My glass is too thick for the MP10.

You can always run the mp40 slower, and try different modes, I personally like the short pulse mode, which creates a more realist ocean current imo

Good idea. Do you run it 24 hours a day? I don’t have any corals.

What color is that one?

Yeah I run it 24/7, you might need to YouTube to set it up correctly, not the easiest mode to setup

Then they aren't healthy. The ocean has way more flow than an mp40 at the lowest setting. Are you sure they are having trouble rather than just swimming against the current? My firefish can easily dart through an mp40qd at 75% if frightened. Can you take a video?

Run yellow that's reef crest which varies throughout the day and keep it on 3 or 2 or 3 dots for the setting if your tank is only 36" and your worried. Studies have shown that fish in high flow tanks are much healthier and live longer. Not only that it oxygenates the water, stabilizes ph, keeps detritus suspended, and reduces some nuisance algae/cyano/diatoms/dino.

Is your powerhead located on the top 1/3 of the glass? Then flow will be stronger up high and minimum lower.

Ok they seem ok with that setting. My tank could use some help with algae too. Thanks!
