Ok so I failed miserably at the bearing replacment on one of my MP40QD dry sides. Darn good thing I'm better a fixing cars than power heads or I wouldn't have the money for this hobby lol. I'm seeing the dry side available from ecotech for a few dollars cheaper than most sites. The problem is it states it is not compatable with ecosmart. I don't understand that statement since I currently run 2 mp10 and 2 mp40 along with 3 radions all of which I control using ecosmart live. Am I going to be forced to use mobius? If so I guess I'll look for an alterative pump. I tried mobius and it just wasn't my cup of tea. That and I have an mp10 that isn't mobius ready and I don't want to spend money to upgrade it since I don't care for mobius anyway. Is there a dry side available that will still work with ecosmart live? Screenshot_20220307-173754_Chrome.jpg

EcoTech really needs to get their act together - it's confusing as hell. According to everything I've found (including EcoTech), the MP40MQD (with the "M") is the Mobius-only dryside. I would probably try to contact EcoTech just to confirm this - because the part number and description doesn't match.

I heard from ecotech and they say the driver determines whether a mp40qd is compatible with ecosmart. By the driver I'm pretty sure they mean the controller no? I just need the dry side and nothing else so I'm thinking a new dry side with my existing controller (or driver?) I should be good to go? Ecotech is rather confusing. If I am just buying a dryside and the controller / driver is what controls whether it is compatible with ecosmart why even mention it in the product description for the dry side? I'm waiting to hear back from them but am curious if anyone here may be able offer some insight.

FYI - it's the number of wires connecting to the controller that determine which dryside works with which driver.
I found this out when a supplier shipped me the wrong parts for an MP10. I'm sure the 40 has the same issues.
I don't have parts in front of me so these #s are from memory going back a few years ...
A dryside with 10 wires will work with both the EcoSmart and QD controllers.
A dryside with 5 wires only works with the QD controllers.

It is confusing, no question. What I think they mean by the dryside not being EcoSmart compatible is that it won’t work with the old white drivers. It should (I hope) still work with a non mobius black QD driver.
