Hi, I always follow the forum, but I have not participated yet. I have an aquarium of 230g dedicated exclusively to soft coral, here you can see it, Ok from Spain (Barcelona)

I have a problem right now. And it is that for some time my colonies of a variety of sinularia are gradually becoming loss color (bleaching) and the colonies of sarcophyton have just begun. Curiously it has coincided with the introduction of a reactor of biopellets, could be lack of nutrients ... but cleaning the pumps I have seen this.

Could it be the cause?
Would you replace all set side or only the base?
There are spare parts only from the base, on the ecotech website only the set comes out.

Beforehand thank you very much

Following. I see the same on both of my mp40wqd. They are in my tank since may2016. Saw the rusty color sept-oct.

I saw that post and that's why I decided to check the pumps.
the magnet is intact, there is only this corrosion at the base of the shaft

Thks dragon

I'll be checking mine for sure tonight. Got triton results yesterday that show high iron and moly, and I don't dose anything that would add those.

@EcoTech Marine - needs to address this issue, and warranty their products. This stuff costs too much for them to simply ignore the fact that there is a problem. They may get me once, but if they don't handle this the right way, they will lose me as a customer FOREVER. And I'll NEVER buy another Ecotech product again. I just purchased four MP40s and two Battery Back-ups for my 120g and soon to be 180g. If they rust, Ecotech will be hearing from me.

I imagine that the corrosion appeared, in one of my pumps, will be of the own axis oh of the system of subjection of this ....

They have just 2 years if I am not mistaken, but I still have my tunze of 13 years that still work without any sign of aging ...

I can't say whether your pumps are part of the problem, but no corals seem to react well to nutrient starvation.

What are some recent test results for ca, alk and mg as well as nutrients? Anything out of the ordinary in the numbers?

What and how often do you feed the tank?

Thks all

Mcarroll The parameters are all stable, kh8 ca 380 mg 1300 Food 4 times a day with the automatic feeder. All dry food ( nyos food and fauna Marin )

Also add once a week iodine, elements, bio booster, aminos, coral néctar ( nyos)
Biweekly strontium

The first mesure has been to reduce the lighting intensity to 90% (led lighting) and feed once a day with goldpods and artemys (nyos)

Sorry.... love nyos [emoji7]

The next step is order more fish

Thks mcarroll for your help!!

Good plan!! :)

How have your NO3 and PO4 tests been over the recent past?

Niether should really be zero.....but especially not PO4.
