Do you guys use the zip tie and mounting tab or just the magnetic pressure to hold your MP in place?

I have seen a few in use but not used one personally and every time I've seen them it is just the magnet used. They used the tab and zip tie to keep wires neat though.

Thanks... yea I agree with keeping things neat just didn't know if the tie to hold in place was necessary to stick another spot on my aquarium.

Please use the zip ties and tie pad as the instructions show. The main purpose for them is to hold the dry side in place if the pump separates. Especially the one directly over the motor. It will keep the dry side from crashing to the floor, or worse, your tank.
I personally had a dry side fall off when it was unsecured. Talk about your bump in the night!
There are a few reasons that they can separate. Most common, a snail will get in and jam the impeller. The other times, it's usually due to lack of maintenance. The impeller will bind with crud and slow or stop it.

The adhesive plate and zip tip are mainly there to cover Eco-tech from liability of electrocution it's customers of water traveling down the cord to the ground from the magnetic drive. That being said I do not use the adhesive plate nor the zip tie with my mounting situation. Great pump.

Always use it.
Why would you wear a seat belt in your car if you think you'll never get in a wreck?

Please excuse my poor post earlier. I did not know the pad and ziptie held it in place good to know.
It keeps the dry side from dropping to the floor if the 2 sides become separated.

I don't use their included zip tie and pad. I'm using something I got at Home Depot when I originally set up the tank, the I.D. of the tab is about .25mm larger than O.D. of the power cable to the Mp40. The wet side actually bound up yesterday while I was playing golf, and I came home to the dry side hanging off the side of the tank but still being help by the cable tie. Doesn't matter how you do it, but make sure you do it.

Really good info guys thank you! It makes sense now in case it falls off due to future problems.. I will definitely use it :)
