Ok so i have a 100g display 4 foot long. I currently have 2 MP 40's. I implemented a nearly full apex system and due to my success i've recently got into the sticks. The reef will be Acro/SPS dominated. I recently acquired a set of Neptune WAV's and was wondering what everyones take on adding these to the system? should I leave the MP40's and add the WAV's? Take out the the MP 40's and only use the waves? I just cant decided what to do, so I could use the help of you reefing experts!

I have a similar system, a 110g tank. I had an MP40 on each side, but felt like I had some dead spots around the mp40s, and moved them forward on each side and added 2 WAVs on each side on the back.

WAVs are really strong with direct flow. I had them turned way down. Eventually one broke after about a year, and I read about the frequent failures that can affect WAV pumps. (They are inexpensive though). Eventually I took them down, and added one more MP40 on the side that I felt had the bigger dead spot I wanted to address.

So overall I don’t have much advice. After having gone through all that, I can say that 2 mp40s opposing each other on antisync is more than sufficient overall flow for a 100g acro tank. But if you want to address dead spots, feel free to add more powerheads. I think WAVs are overkill, and I’m also not crazy about buying equipment that won’t last long. But you can use just about anything for dead spots.
