Has anyone done any of the webinars with Mr Saktwatertank that you purchase? Are they good? What was your experience? Worth it? Do you have a review. Looking to sign up for them today as the sale ends tonight and the pricing is great. But id like some feedback from anyone that has dealt with him. Even if you have purchased his books any feedback would be great.

Jmo but maybe if your a super newbie and don't know about online forums it may benefit you.. But being most all the info I've seen him relay is readily available online via forums or YouTube I'd say save your money and start reading.

I have no experience with what your planning on doing but I really see no benefit to subscribing to a single person for advice.

Thank you for the feedback but i was asking for opinions from people that have dealt with him, purchased his books, attended webinars.

Thats actually a pretty fair assessment of mr saltwater tank. He's a bit more about current trend, than experienced reefing. For newer reefers hes quite accessible and prolific amongst the topics but not always quite spot on with depth facts or flexibility in styles of reefing. So it presents a somewhat narrow view of what can be done. Probably worth the money though depending on the topic.

My wife was a big fan initially, till it was pointed out we were doing stuff wrong according to him, but we were doing things that PHD's had suggested. DSB for example.

Point taken and I get that you weren't asking for opinions. So I will bow out to help you get what you were looking for. I just wanted to point out that I ( again a personal opinion) don't feel what he's offering is anything special or worth paying a subscription for. I think most people you are going to get a positive response from are new to the hobby or relatively new and aren't the people to take advice from without verification regardless.

Nothing against him or anything of the sort we need people who put out positive vibes about the hobby but his whole game is geared towards people who don't know how to find info or are too lazy/confused to look for it. It's really his opinion and things ( sponsors) in his personal tank.

Good luck and happy new year I hope you find what your looking for..

Thanks for the insight!

Most people that I know that have taken his class have been happy. But they don't do forums so it might be hard to get feedback. Believe it or not there are tons of hobbyist that have never logged on to a forum.

Hi, I can tell you that I have done all of Mr Saltwater webinars, bought all of his books, and followed him for the past 5y.

I have also followed most large forums, read advanced aquarist, sign Coral Magazine and bought and read most of the books that are considered bibles for e hobby.

For a beginner, in my opinion Mr Saltwater's content is very useful. He deals with all the major topics of the hobby in a language that anyone can understand and for the most part his advice is solid and a good place to start. As you progress in the hobby and above all, read, you will find that on occasion you may not fully agree with him and understand that you were only scrapping the surface.

I would recommend it to anyone starting in the hobby.

He has the coral coloration one coming up next month which i purchased. I suffer in that area and another point of view from him and his experienced partner in the matter would definitely benefit me no matter what in my opinion.

The way i see the hobby is this: there are so many unknowns, so many unexplored areas, so many ways to go about doing things that the more diverse your reading material the better. At the end of the day each one of us is following what they think is best which in the majority of the cases (certainly for me) it's an amalgamation of many advice sprinkled with personal preference.

So to answer the original question, i haven't bought anything from him before, this seminar is the first. I have, however, watched probably every video he has on YouTube though and i can definitely say i have found them extremely informative and I've picked up a lot of things big and small.

Just as an FYI, I went ahead and purchase his 3 webinar package. Virtual Tank Build, Advanced Coral Color and Growth, and Tank Chemistry.

I went with it because I have a 72 gallon tank now, I bought it as an existing setup and moved it 300 miles. I set it up all in one day, how the original owner had it. I am in the process of building a 120 so I figured his tank build class I could benefit from since i never really built a tank.

The Coral color and growth, I need it and can use more help there.

The Tank Chemistry, I figured why not and I could use a brush up.
