back to the injector for this particular skimmer .

the inlet goes in the top , through the air injector but having a hard time figuring out why the injector fills with salt crystals after running for a few months .

what does everyone else use to seal the injector besides Teflon tape .
next question the air Inlet has a cotton filter . How often does everyone change theirs ?

I ran a MRC 2 back in the day. I upgraded many years ago because the pressure pumps are energy hogs…anyway to answer your questions, I used a rubber grommet on the bottom of the injectors for a better seal and teflon on the threads. . I changed the floss every few days to a week depending if they looked dirty. I ended up using a washable reusable sponge. There a lot of mods to make them more efficient from putting risers on the injector housings to u tube in the box up into the chamber.

This skimmer is a beast . Bit works amazing .
I have it hooked up to a jeabo dc pump so energy consumption isn’t bad .
the only few issues I have is the injector filling with salt crystals , once adjusted the level in the skimmer changes usually drops when feeding or dosing

When I bought this skimmer used . It didn’t have a pump , and a cracked injector that leaked water everywhere .

contacted Mrc directly and found they recommended a mag 18 pump or a blue line .

the dc 9000 is 2377 gph where the mag 18 is only 1800

I used a mag 24 on mine and sold it before the more energy efficient dc pumps were available. They are good becket skimmers, but require constant adjustments. My Vertex is not only efficient, but set it and forget it.

MRC's are the best. I ran a MRC1 and MRC2 and never saw that bad of salt deposits. As mentioned, I always had an o-ring on the beckett body. My only major complaint was the noise. If you have a remote fish room, no issue, but for me, it was in the room with the DT. For what it's worth, I ran a MAG24 for the MRC skimmers I had (and still have in storage).

I prefer the external skimmer .
the one before this was a reef octopus . Was 36” tall , and leaked .

Tightening the bulk head fitting I cracked the body .
Moving forward . This skimmer is a beast and pulls tons of gunk
Works great for the 230 gal dt it’s connected to

it is loud . It’s in my living room

You could try the LifeReef mod and pull moist air from the skimmate container. I did this on the Beckett’s on my MTC and it eliminated the salt creep.
