I have a 28 gal JBJ nano, I don't want to use the hood any more and I would like to remove the rim (tank is currently not in use) as anyone done it and if so how?

If it's like the biocube , you can take a razor blade and run it between the rim and the glass cutting the silicone. A little work and patience. Just be careful to not damage the rim of the glass. I have also read posts where people used a heat gun to loosen things up never used one though.
