I think I might've gotten a breakthrough on this skimmer... for about a month, I've been trying to get the maxiumum performance out of this skimmer but can't seem to get it to work right... with the help of some of the guys here and some trial and error, I might've gotten to finally work... so here is the list of stuff I did so far...

elevated the water height to about 11"; used to be around 8"...

Sweet skimmer. I have one and really like it. The one I have is the 1st gen and never had a bit of problems out of it.

awesome... :)

when you turn the dial towards the CLOSED position, do you get wet or dry skim? how high is the water level where your skimmer sits on?

Mine runs in 8in of water here are a few pics that might help you out. Ill edit it later and remove pics. Dont want to trash up your thread ;)

Sweet - It sounds like some of that stuff worked.

The biggest thing is doing the minor adjustment to the open/closed position. If you turn it one way it will skim wet, the other dry

That looks about perfect now. You should get a lot more performance out it.

I do remenber having to change the long drain pipe with the shorter one so it would skim in lower water. I'll see if I cant dig up the thread

Thanks man... I hope it keeps skimming.... ;)

I have an Octo extreme 200, same thing. My last sump had the water level at about 9", this new one has it at about 10.25". I have also noticed an improvement and keep mine almost closed like yours in the pic.
