I recently purchased a used, but in excellent condition, MTC Power Pro / SS model PP4MDQ/ss protein skimmer. I have a couple of questions.

1.) It did not come with a pump for recycling, I will be feeding it from a manifold. What pump did they originally come with or what would be the best pump to put on it for recycling?

2.) The gaskets that sit between the neck and the body and the the skimmate cup and the lid are dry rotted. Since MTC seems to be out of business, phone disconnected and not responding to email, does anybody know where one might buy parts for MTV skimmers or any DIY solutions to make the gaskets that would work for this purpose?

3.) Does anyone that has run this skimmer have any instruction manual that would say what the optimum flow rate through the skimmer should be?

Can you show a picture? I have a PowerPro at home but am not sure of its model number .... I bought it as just the power pro (it has dual 784 mazzei injectors.

Any gasket material will suffice. You can buy sheets of it off amazon if memory serves. The required pump depends on the size and number of injectors.

I am at work right now so this pic was pulled from internet but looks identical to mine (minus the pump). Mine is 58” completely assembled. The main chamber is 36” and has a 12” neck. It has dual 684K Mazzei injectors.

Wanted to edit this to say that I just noticed that in my original post I said recycling, when I meant recirculating. Autocorrect sucks or I shouldn’t post after 16hrs of work lol.

I knew what you meant LOL. My skimmer is a somewhat more recent version of the power pro, but when I first bought it the injectors were dual 684s. The pump MTC recommended was the PanWorld 100PX/Blueline 40. I did do some subsequent mods on it - extending the reaction chamber, swapping in dual 784 injectors and upsized the pump to a PanWorld 150PS. I always ran the recirculating pump as dedicated, not off a manifold. Not sure how well that will work.

I have replaced gaskets on some of my MTC gear, and I buy 1/8" silicone rubber sheets off amazon. They're red in color and sold by a snicker-inducing vendor called the rubber warehouse. It's easy to cut and trim to size.

I do have a PowerPro manual at home, if you wanted to PM me your email I could scan it for you. I don't recall that there is any recommendation on flow through though. If you check me out on RC, I had a long thread on the skimmer.

Fantastic! Thank you for the info about the gaskets. I will send you a PM for the manual. Yea after rereading my original post I realized it sounded a little confusing. What I meant was I am going to feed the skimmer from a manifold. The recirculating pump will be a dedicated pump, I was just unsure what pump to put on there.

I found your thread Bucking the trend over on RC. That thing is a beast!

I see the the mazzei injectors are external on yours. Was this a performance/upgrade for newer models or does it really make a difference?

I like your design to flush the injectors. May have to try something like that.

I recall Jeff saying they put the injectors on the outside to make cleaning them easier.
