I wasn't sure if this had been posted on R2R yet, but if so, I thought I'd refresh everyone on it. MTRC is having their next frag swap near Nashville on Jan 23. Historically, it is far and away the largest in the region. I think there were 4-500 people last year, with a large number of vendors. I noticed some talk of issues getting the word out on other larger forums with some new rule changes on posting in club forums, so I thought posting here could only help spread the word.

Ya, I told them on "the other" forrum that they really needed to post here. I just happen to be friends with one of the vendors i found out through, I might have missed it otherwise.
Im not sure why the "other forrum" doesnt let the club post there activities. I thought it was bad before! LOL!

Initially, I didn't think it would create as big a speed bump for local clubs, but I think a lot of the forums I used to post in don't have much activity, so to find a 'person of influence' in that forum is difficult (meaning you can't post in that forum). I would hit 15 or 20 forums when I advertised for the swap (and every local club website within 6 or 7 hours, too), but very few get hits at all. That doesn't mean that it sitting there doesn't grab the attention of a passerby through the forum that says, hey, that might be cool. I hope it doesn't have too big an effect on how many show up...

Below is a link to the frags I'll have at the swap.

Thanks for posting this. I just stopped by to see who all are coming? And more importantly what you are bringing?:haha:

Im not sure I understand the reason behind the new rule? I thought the purpose of these reef forrums was to promote the hobby, and in alot of ways preserve our natural reefs. Frag swaps to me are the best way to promote the hobby and preserve our reefs. By not allowing clubs to advertise there swaps they are killing the attendance. Maybe I dont understand what the rule is for or how it works?

The only thing I can come up with is that some clubs must have complained about others posting? Without knowing the reasoning, it seems to separate clubs to some degree.

So is it on wed. Jan. 20th? If so, what time? I looked all over the link and couldn't find a specific date/time. I may want to ride with you guys, Stacey, if thats ok.

Jules,

You are welcome to ride with us. I am however not completely sure of all the logistics yet so I will have to get back with you with times for departure, etc.

Stacey

No problem...we can just talk sooner to time. I mentioned it to my boyfriend the other day and he said he might be interested in going, if he does, I will just drive.

its possible, you need to measure the opening in that middle chamber to see how big a footprint you can fit in it. that is the key. length times width
