In the past 8 months I've had a 3 incidents of a certain Smell that I was convinced was caused by an overfeeder dropped in a lot of spectrum pellets and causing a bacteria smell.

Smell came back last week and this is what I've done.

1. Made 2 x25% waterchanges, Last week and 1 yesterday night.
2. Removed about 40% of the display sand (for good)
3. Yesterday I trashed a rock full of dead sponge, only a section was dieing because of cheato growing over it.
4. Increased vectra to 100% (generally run at 70%)

Anyways, today morning I still noticed a slight Odor and feel the only thing that can be left is the Miracle mud and LR which is covering it. Since its in a tray perhaps its not getting enough flow as needed for it to be effective?

the smell has to go I can't even identify it. My wife identified it as a LFS or joes crab shack where it smells like dieing fish. lol

Can anyone relate to this smell caused by overfeeding (Spectrum pellets or another)? I still have a good amount of LR, cryptic zone, and marine pure block which along with the mud keeps my nutrients low (Nitrates 0.2-.5ppm and Phopshates 8- 12PPB
