Mud or Sand

I would vote neither.....here is why IMO
Mud has too many nutrients and will be an issue if you want an ULN tank
Sand - place for detritus to get caught up and another place to vacuum when you do a W/C
Just my opinions though....if you are trying to grow specialized algae or something like that I would be sure to look into what it is grown on and use that.
