Anybody use miracle mud? I've read threads that bash it and threads that rave about it. What's the local word?

I have used it in the Past, Honestly i could not say anything bad about it other than it clouds your tank up for day's when you add it to the sump. As far as an opinion i guess it's great at adding trace elements to your system and do not think it will harm anything but hard to prove a positive on this product. JMO

I have been looking into this weekend as well. Lookin into Brightwells KoraLagoon Substrate too. Any opinions on that?

I'm not using miracle mud I'm using fiji mud which is the exact same thing basically..
mines in the sump covered in a layer of sand (it most certainly does cloud of the tank)
I do have mangroves growing they seem to enjoy it so far...

I have kept refugium only systems for over twelve or more years and the day Eco System Miracle Mud became available, I started using it instead of a DSB in my sumps. The corals love it. All you have to do is add calcium if you are keeping hard corals and thats it.

This is my refugium on my 250 reef. It also runs a small 40 gallon reef and a coral grow out.
Four bags of Miracle Mud in a 30 long.

I need more mud but this is what I'm running at this time. I may add a second refugium later.

Zombie, what do you feel that the MM actually does? What else have you used to compare it to?

It keeps my iodine levels up and other elements not tested for on a scheduled basis. I don't need to add magnesium or any other trace element other then Kalkwasser. I notice Xenia takes off as soon as it is added to a system that previously didn't use the mud without any other changes other then MM in the refugium. I had used other less expensive muds in a couple tanks that later switched to MM and noticed a big difference in coral health, color and growth. The people that switched are still using MM years later.

I have mineral mud in my fuge, same stuff but about half the price. They claim that it goes anaerobic with a half inch. Works better than sand in a fuge, plus my chaeto grows like crazy, and i have tons of pods worms that love living in it.

Sent from somewhere using something.
