Multi clownfish tank

Depends, it's either a harem tank of clowns from same clutch, or a group that have not matured and paired up yet, or possibly someone just getting lucky, for who knows how long.

So heres the question, if you get 4-5 from Same clutch will they ever pair up?

They might or they might not. I have 16 from the same clutch and they're all about the same size and they all get along. In another tank, I had about 30 clowns from mixed families. Two were paired and grew larger, while the others stayed small and never reached maturity.

If you want them to pair up, just get two. If you get four expecting them to create two pairs, it won't happen. Once two pair up, a hierarchy begins where you will have one dominant female, one male, and two subordinates who may or may not get picked on.

Okay cause I’m setting up an anemone tank and i really want 4-5 clownfish in my anemone tank

Most likely you will have one dominant female and a male and subs, and I agree it still can come w/ some badgering of subs, so usually a bigger group will do better so that badgering is spread around more.

25 lagoon, and bubble tips, maxi minis, rock anemones maybe a small carpet

Well, you may need a shoe horn for that!

That size tank is good for one pair at best, and one of the smaller anemones at best IMO

That is a pretty small tank. Nem wise I think you will be fine with almost anything. Clowns wise, you are asking for trouble with more than 2. I asked about adding multiple clowns in one tank a while back. The ones that were successful added them roughly at the same time and had significant amount of room (6'+) and multiple nems for them to spread out.

Unsuccessful folks typically had a pair already established and added another pair. Amount of room in the tank didn't seem to matter. This seemed to always end with one pair killing another pair.

However as long as you understand the risks and have a separate QT tank to move clowns into, then you could always try. Keep in mind with your size tank it will be difficult to support multiples of any fish.

My tank isn’t set up yet.. I will be putting them in quarantine together for several weeks anyways. Nem Wise Ik I’m good because the tank has a huge footprint.. and it’s going to have heavy filtration

A clown harem tank it is doable, but your tank size is definitely a very strong limiting factor. If you want to do it right you might want to think about a larger tank to start with.

I figured.. if I got them from the same clutch, and the tank was slightly smaller and had a bunch of anemones it would stop any of them from being territorial

Keep in mind that of all the host anemones, almost all grow to between 18" to 24" diameter, mags and gigs can even get up to 3' diamter possibly, so while they could fit in there, they are going to be right up against pumps or intakes even if you have just one.

A malu only gets about 8-10" in diameter, that would fit tank best really, or LTA or BTA

Yeah I’m gonna skip the carpet

A small tank with a bunch of clowns is asking for trouble, imo just get two with one bigger than the other with a RBTA . You don't want to see bad side of those clownfish they're straight up nasty.

Well actually this is going to be an anemone tank

I've got a 150 gallon display. It's been operating for about 9 months and doing well. I purchased 4 clowns from the same clutch and put them in quarantine (40 gallons). They all did well for two weeks, then two paired off and started attacking the other two. One was killed quickly--the other removed, and rehomed.
