Multipe fish with Tattered Fins

I have several fish, a hippo tang, yellow tang, sailfin tang and foxface that have tattered fins. It does not affect appetite, swimming or behavior. The fish "bicker" but nothing serious. The dorsal fins are most prominently affected. The hippo tang also has HLLE. None of the other fish...anthius, chromis, maroon clown pair, flame hawk fish, flame and coral beauty angels, and dottybacks, are affected.

The DT is a 2 and half year old 220 gal mixed reef. I will try to post some pictures. Thank you in advance for your help.

Pics would be of great help.

It could be aggression damage. Could also be flukes causing the fin damage. Being Dorsal fins I would suspect something more along the lines of Disease etc. Fin Rot another possibility.

My guess would be one of your Dottybacks are the culprit. I had a splendid dottyback for a short time, but he bit the fins and tails off of every fish in the tank, no matter how big they were. He earned a trip back to the fish store.

^^ Both are possibilities. I won't even order dottybacks due to their inclination towards being aggressive and tendency to nip fins.

WOW...I never would have even considered the dotty back...and I have 3 of them! I have to keep a better eye on them.

I’m going with Dottyback and Coral Beauty for my guess. Both can have issues
