Multiple concerns

I made tank covers using gray window screen. I am running Hamilton Sun MH. When I am doing WC, I notice my corals open up more than when the covers are not on. At one point I thought it was flow issue cause the pumps are off and only the return running.

I lost lots of frags due to brown out etc. Thought it was lighting then I realize my salt was giving me 20 DKH. I am about to re up on frags soon, but I want to make sure I everything under control.

Does the window screen causes loss of par? if so what else can I use (don't have jumpers but my sohal cause its tank mates to jump while getting away from him)

I changed out the my T5 bulbs after 2yrs . I just added 1 hydra 26 to one side of the tank for experimenting purpose and have the center and other side still on MH

I got the DKH down to 9.8 with muriatic acid.

I have two gyre 250, should I had pumps on the back wall? if so what's quiet and controllable.

I’m not certain, but I’d say that it’s possible the screen could be blocking some of the light, especially if it is a fine screen. Clear mesh netting works good, you can find kits that have everything you need to make a top out of it somewhere like bulk reef supply. I don’t have much experience with different kinds of pumps, so I don’t have an answer for that.

Maybe get some of the 1/4" vinyl screening from BRS. Their videos show it doesn't cause a noticeable drop in par.

My corals tend to open up during water changes and when the flow is off as well. I think that is sort of common.
Certainly could be your window screen/light levels, but I wouldn't automatically assume that's the problem.

Is it the metal/mesh screen? Depending on material, I might be concerned about it corroding.

Yes the screen will lower par. When I ran MH ever time I got new coral I would put it under window screen for a week or two to get used to the 400w MH lights. I can't remember what the diffrence in par readings were but that screen will restrict alot more light then you think.
