I have two questions. I have a Maculicepps tang about 8". For some reason, I always have liked the convict tangs. One of the stores I go to has some in the 3" range. Could I add two with the cepps?

Not a good idea, IMO

Depends on the display size. I believe they are different genus. If that's the case should not have territory issues if display is big enough. I read convicts are difficult to establish so the more room they have the better. Anyway that is my 2-cents.

8" CEPPS nice!
I tried a similar deal in our 300, we have a 7" chevron and I wanted a few
Yellows to add color and they where 2-1/2" - 3" range and man it was on, dime size bits of the
yellow tangs for about 4 days but resided after that and all good now. these were from a fello
reefers tank, I wouldn't put store bought fish right into the display. just my 2 cents.

Yeah, he's the star of the tank...over my interuptus. I QT all my fish first.

Maculiceps and Triostegus (Convict) are both acanthurus genus, so your likely asking for trouble. Convicts are hardy once established, but difficult to acclimate as they often come in very thin. Unless you're planning an extended QT, I'd think a thin convict would stand very little chance. I agree that the convict is a really nice tang, and an awesome algae eater.

I would say no it will end in dead convicts for sure. Convicts are probably the least aggressive tang you can get. If that's what you want to do I would suggest get rid of the big guy first. Get the convicts in after that and established. Then adding any other tang after them will be easier.
