So as the title states, would it be possible to have 2 dottybacks in a 180 display? I currently have a springeri dottybacks but a friend is trying to unload a purple. Is this a good idea or should I pass? My rockwork isn't minimal, but I don't have a ton of hiding spots.

You should be fine with that rock work, it's minimal forsure but with two separate structures they should be fine. I've kept multiple dottybacks in smaller tanks with no issues

I've never tried it but I've heard it rarely works, but again I don't have any experience with it personally nor any experience close to me to draw from

How long have you had the springeri? I find that it works better if they are added simultaneously, or close to it.

I've had the springeri for quite a few years, I think this will be the 4th year I've had him.

I have one dottyback a 300. He has an attitude. He seems to pick on new fish just for fun. Nothing serious but still. Having multiple dottybacks in a tank that is not really big might not be a great idea.
