I have what I believe the be a young male Melanurus wrasse in my tank and I was wanting to add a second Halichoeres wrasse. I was looking at a Timor wrasse and was wanting to know if they would likely get along in my 125g tank.
A few weeks ago I used a mirror to distract an aggressive tang and the Melanurus didn't show hardly any interest in its reflection so I am am hopeful that it would work out, but wanted to get others opinions before buying it.

Maybe with the colors being so close you could have a problem.

but in my experience I’ve never had a problem with melanaurus wrasse being aggressive.

always the angels for me

My Melanurus has never been aggressive but I wasn't sure about adding a fish from the same genus.
The only aggressive fish I have in tank is my purple tang, and he isn't too aggressive. I have a tomini tang that he will occasionally chase but he never does any damage to it.

Fwiw, my current 75 gallon has the following wrasses together without issue:
1 Halichoeres timorensis
1 Halichoeres iridis
1 Cirrhilabrus lubbocki - Cebu variant
1 Cirrhilabrus isosceles
1 Cirrhilabrus finifenmaa
1 Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis
1 Cirrhilabrus bathyphilus

I also have a large variety of other fish in there, LPS, SPS, softies, and as of this morning 3 giant clams. The wrasses also completely ignored the clams so far.

As of this morning 3 clams... so is that "I just added one clam today" or "I just added 3 clams today"?

Loving all those wrasses.

I don't know why but I've never really considered the fairy or even flasher wrasses. I'm visiting a reef shop tomorrow that is pretty far from home that has a pretty good selection of wrasses, so I'm excited to see what they have.

I added 3 clams this morning.

Picked up a maxima, a crocea, and a hippopus from the AquaSD live sale last weekend. No good pic of the maxima in the tank after acclimation, but all 3 have settled pretty well. One of the aurora gobies seems to like using the Hippopus as a perch.

And pics of the timor and radiant, as well as some full tank shots showing the fairies as well.

Radiant is my favorite Halichoeres. I may still add another fairy, and will add one or 3 Macropharyngodon, Pseudojuloides, or Anampses if I can find any healthy ones at my LFS. I prefer not to ship the wrasses that sleep in sand. I like to see them in person, make sure they've adjusted well, don't have damaged jaws, and are readily eating prepared foods. My wife and I plan on adding a variety of reef safe wrasses to our 47 gallon and 65 gallon reefs we are currently building as well.

I have three Halichoeres wrasses among 14 other wrasses in my 110 gallon - H. Richmondi, H. Chrysus, & H. Timorensis. I've never experienced any aggressiveness in the bunch. The richmondi is very similar to the melanurus.
