Wondering what people here are using besides Apex and stuff like that. Do you run multiple heaters or a single heater with a temperature controller or multiple heaters with a temperature controller?
I plan on using a cobalt Neo Therm 200 watt for a 40 gallon breeder with 29 gallon sump, possibly an additional or getting an Inkbird Controller.

Thoughts and suggestions wanted.

Paul

I used to run just one on a rainco temp controller. Just bought a 2nd one since our furnace went down and now have both on the same controller. Plan to leave both in there for fail safe.

I just watched this, after I posted. Thanks for the link. What do you currently run, @Justfebreezeit?

I currently just use a Neotherm on my 20g with no control other than its internal thermostat. Its been solid for a little over a year.

I'm setting up a 75g with my tax return and will definitely use some kind of temp controller on that. Probably Inkbird.

Is the probe saltwater safe or did you have to cover it in silicone?

On my large tank I run two heaters (Eheim Jager) that are controlled by my Apex. They would have to both fail in the on position and the Apex fail to over heat my tank.

Resurrecting this old thread to add a new question. I prefer multiple small heaters so that if one stops working the temp is at least backed up. I've luckily only had heaters fail in the "off" position (I usually replace about once a year to be safe), but also to avoid the temp rising too quickly with a smaller heater if it falls "on".

Any reason not to add a 3 outlet adapter to a temperature controller to have 2 smaller 200 watt heaters in a 125 gallon?

Thanks,
Scott

I'm doing it. But for redundancy I'm also using multiple controllers on some systems. Controllers fro just turning on or off heaters or fans are pretty inexpensive now. Just be sure to get a waterproof temperature sensor or make one by encapsulating it in silicone.
