Ok so I've been doing research for a couple hours now. My mind is spinning on what to do. I will be setting up a large QT for all my fish in my DT and allowing my DT to go fallow.

All my fish have ich (plan to use copper)
One fish has an external bacterial infection (plan to treat with furan 2, metroplex kanaplex)
Another fish seems to me to have possibly internal parasites/worms (eat a good but not gaining weight. Somewhat loss of color)

My questions is. How am I gonna do this?!

Can all medications be mixed? What more medications should i get. I have furan 2 metroplex kanaplex. What brand of copper? Api general cure for internal stuff? Soak/feed or dose whole tank? I'm so lost

For internal parasites best to feed medicated foods. You can use seachem focus as a binder for metro and try to feed it. This may also help bacterial infections. Feeding medicated foods won’t cause problems that may arise from dosing antibiotics with copper so you can do both at the same time.

I would start with an acriflavine bath for 60-90 minutes for all fish suspected of bacterial infections.

Dosing antibiotics with copper is not recommended depending on the severity of multiple symptoms and should only be done in emergencies. Best to treat the two separately. Depending on the severity you will have to decide which one to do first.

Good luck!

Can I mix metroplex and api general cure in the their food?

API general cure contains metronidazole and praziquantel, so no need to mix more. You could try feeding it instead of metroplex alone.

So one fish has external bacterial infection and one probably has internal worms. And the others have ich

Can I dose water with kanaplex, metroplx, furan 2 and copper

AND feed Api general cure to all fish?

It’s not recommended to dose ABX with copper, I especially wouldn’t do all 3 at the same time and copper can be especially harsh on fish with infections.

You can feed ABX while in copper and see if that helps. Alternatively, start the fish with antibiotics then treat in copper once infections are gone.

He’s stepped away for a while.

Use copper power and the Hanna copper checker to measure it. Add General Cure or metroplex an seachem focus to food for 10-14 days for internal parasites. You can do these things concurrently.

@4FordFamily I just purchased cupramine. Isthat ok?
It’s OK but not ideal. The effective range and toxic range are so close. If you have a Hanna copper checker you’ll be fine. .5 is your number.

Some fish don’t like cupramine but I don’t think it’s as “bad” comparatively as others believe, I’ve had great success with it in the past. This is just my anecdotal experience.

I’m guessing with proper range being used (you’ll need a copper checker by hanna to do this properly) you’ll be fine.

Oh god. I just got the seachem copper test kit. Lol @4ford

Well the barine tang died the one with suspected internal worms/parasites.

So I just read cupramine instructions, and it say not to use any dechlor or ammonioa remover (I have seachem prime). Is this true? Crap I used tap water and seachem safe fory QT.

@4FordFamily

So then only way of controlling ammonia in my QT would be water changes? Or can i iue seachem safe with with copper power.
