What's the rule for having multiple clownfish pairs in tanks? I have a standard 75 gallon with a pair of snowflakes...and I'd like to add a pair of black ice. Currently have 2 btas as well. Thoughts? What about a trio?

I would stick with one pair in a 4 foot tank. Especially expensive ones like snow flakes.

just say"NO"...........
clownfish should be kept as pairs only....while some have kept multiple clowns together for some time, nature's law is that in close quarters (ie: our aquariums) there will eventually be a dominant female and one submissive male.

when they become a bonded/mated pair they will "defend" their home without prejudice which will result in the death of the unwanted clown.

Two females cannot occupy the same space, especially in a small aquarium.

The people that you see doing it have introduced all the clowns at the same time as un- sexed juveniles usually from the same clutch. Even so I'm doubtful of long term success. I also would not recommend it in a tank your size especially with an established pair already in there.

Thanks a lot, everyone. I think the answer is a resounding 'NO'!! Perhaps I'll do a trade?? I really want that black ice pair!
