I was wondering if using a liquid phosphate remover like brightwell’s phospaht-e in conjunction with seachem’s phosbond would work more efficiently than just one of the two. Seems to me like the liquid would bind up the phosphate and then the media would remove it much faster. Or is this overkill and potentially harmful to corals. My ulr hanna checker is reading .9 in my fluval evo 13.5, which means it is topped out and most likely higher than that. It is basically an anemone tank, housing 3 acid wash rainbow btas and a supernova bta. In the last week or so the anemone have began to look very angry and do not open up and I’ve now have turf algae. The only corals in the tank is gsp and a small toadstool leather. I did a 5 gallon w/c last weekend and the only reason I can conclude for the angry nems is the super high phosphates most likely from over feeding.

hi, my go to would be seachem phosguard, and water changes.
assuming you are using rodi ,correct ?

The real question becomes why do you need to use 2 phosphate removing products at one time? I think it’s time to reevaluate what is going into the system. Almost all elevated PO4 issues can be traced back to “feeding” corals or fish. Might also be a great time to look at your export methods as well. :)

Its fine to use multiple methods, but it won't be any more efficient in terms of media usage. It might be less efficient with respect to the Phosbond since it (and all media-type binders) binds less at lower phosphate concentrations.

Do you have the stock filter sponge
I mean I have the stock sponge but am not using it. Running the intank media chamber in the first chamber, heater and live rock rubble in second chamber and return pump in third. As of this moment I have phosbond and filter pad in top of media rack, carbon and purigen in middle, and seachem matrix in the lower portion. I have zero doubt it’s due to overfeeding and using dry food on occasion. Need to add more cuc to it!

The reason I asked is that I am not sure if I would add lanthanum chloride unless I had an extremely fine filter to remove it
