Multiple shrimp in one aquarium

I have a peppermint, cleaner and fire shrimp in my 55g with no problems whatsoever. The fire shrimp stays hidden basically all the time and I rarely even get a glimpse of it, which is kind of annoying as it was the most expensive one. I would like a coral banded shrimp, but I understand they are fairly aggressive and can't be kept safely with the others.

Can you have peppermint shrimp along with a cleaner shrimp, pistol shrimp and fire shrimp all in the same aquarium? Aquarium is 90 gallons
cleaner , fire and peppermint go perfectly fine together , for the pistol shrimp it depends on what species you go with the randals will be just fine . you might have some problems with some of the larger ones like the blue and tiger .

but every rule has an exception

Can shrimp replace crabs as a clean up crew? I’d prefer to stick with a variety of snails, an urchin and shrimp rather then add crabs
They always seem to kill off my snails regardless if there’s plenty of shells to use

each has its own functions but I don't think that they replace crabs , I just have snails and everything is perfectly fine .

While crabs are great at cleaning up corpses (maybe a little too great...), many species of shrimp are effective detrivores. My skunk cleaner shrimp (and I have two, along with a coral banded shrimp in my Reefer 350) very actively search the tank for food, and are certainly much faster and more mobile than any crab that I have in that tank.

I have a skunk cleaner, peppermint, and a tiger pistol shrimp in my 32g. Everything is fine. Sometimes the pistol "shoots" at the peppermint, who is too dumb to relocate to a different part of the rock. The peppermint is probably coming out soon, as the aiptasia is all gone.

I don't know if a skunk and a blood/fire shrimp should be housed together.

So it’s definitely possible to do without crabs and have an effective clean up crew ?
I have Nassarius, nerites, astraea, trochus, and a tuxedo urchin as well as the shrimp mentioned

Sure. But there's probably no harm in getting a Hallowe'en hermit crab if you do want a crab. They're pretty benign for crabs and will only want to rehome in cone snail shells, so it'll leave the snails that you do have alone.

Probably wouldn’t hurt to add some cerith as well. I avoid astraea since they can’t flip themselves over. I’ve bought turbo snails twice but they always seem to die off and stink the tank up. Emerald crabs are good addition, I’ve had no issues with them, I also have two short spine pincushion urchins, white and a purple plus.

92 corner with:
1 Coral Banded Shrimp
2 Skunk Cleaners
~9 Peppermint shrimp (rarely see, so not sure how many are around)

All seem to get along fine.

32 cube.

2 peppermints, 1 cleaner and a random ghost shrimp lol. All is well in my tank, and 32g is a close quarters tank.

Pistol, Cleaner, and Banded Coral shrimp all lived together fine.

That said, the banded coral shrimp had to move out because he decided bubble corals were fun to play with constantly, and the pistol shrimp had to go because it started killing small gobies that got too close to its burrow. Literally you'd hear the "snap" sound and the little goby would slump to the sand. In other news, catching a rogue pistol shrimp sucks.

it works if you have a big tank and a lot of hiding places.

I do have a couple small emerald crabs and haven’t had issues that I’m aware of, it’s the hermits that seem to evict snails from their shells regardless of there being other vacant shells available

I’ve had the same experience with turbos, they’re great at cleaning but for no apparent reason die and with a small tank it really messes with the water chemistry
