Multiple Skimmers in a 340 gallon aquarium

So I have a 300 gallon fish tank and I have been having trouble with algae for over a year now. I am debating on adding a second skimmer to the mix (current skimmer is Reef Octopus Elite 220 INT - capacity of 300-530 gallons). Was thinking something on the cheaper side ($400$500) Not sure if it is worth the hassle of having to clean two. The alternative would be to get a bigger skimmer..possibly a small recirculating skimmer if the sump as the space. Though the current skimmer is only a few years old, so I would prefer not to do that just yet. Any thoughts?

I have tried snails, have added tangs, tried crabs, tried urchins, dose NOPOX daily and change 50 gallons or so every other week.

How long does it take for your skimmer to fill up? Maybe try to turn the foam level up a bit so that it captures more.

Also what do you have for a sump and refugium set up. I am new tot he hobby, my tank was having a rough go with algae and I determined the issue was that my cheati was dying due to inadequate refugium lighting.

I bought a better refugium light and some sea lettuce from algae barn to replace my dead Chaeto and the algae issue cleared up within a week.

I have a reef octopus 150 skimmer and I run it at a fairly low foam level so that I don’t have to empty it as often- it generally needs to be emptied 1-2 times a week.

I have a automatic neck cleaner and an external reservoir (i think about 3 gallons), gets emptied and cleaned every other week.

Don't really bother with a refugium, in my experience they are just another tank to clean, the algae removed is relatively small, and the overall size of the regugium (only maybe 20 gallons, is insufficient for a 340 gall aquarium.
