Multiple zebrasoma tangs

I know that combining zebrasoma tangs can be iffy at best, but seems like I've seen alot of purple and yellows and sailfins together lately.
I currently have a yellow ( 4") in my 233 and thought I would try a purple.
THe purple came in smaller, around 2", than I wanted, but it is what it is.
After doing the quarantine with the purple I thankfully used a acclimation box in the 233.
It took about 20 minutes before the yellow started coming over to the box and now it's like the yellow wants to rip the purple a new one.
I taped a large mirror to the tank, hoping the yellow would be more angry at the reflection, but it really hasn't noticed it's own reflection.
My male potters wrasse sure has.

With aggression right away like the yellow is showing, does it ever go away?

It could be after a couple days in the box, the aggression will get better.

Is the yellow the only tang in the tank? That can be a tough situation.

Any interest in adding more tangs?

I added a hippo tang a few months ago and the yellow and him are buddies.
They hang and swim together.

Yeah, I always have liked tangs. There may be another.

The tank is 72" x 30" x 25"

I don't have personal experience but my buddies have had success keeping at least (3) Zebrasoma tangs together. I think it can be difficult to keep just (2) of Zebrasoma tangs together.

With those dimensions, you could add more. It might actually help to add another one or two at the same time as the new purple.

Unfortunately, I run everything through quarantine before going in the display tank, so anything would be minimum 30 days out.

I added a YT to a PT and YT last year to my 180. There’s no way it would have happened without a mirror. I think I used 2 or 3 mirrors. Good luck.

I have a Sailfin, Yellow, Blonde Naso that are all around the same size....and then a runt Purple tang(half the size of the others).
The Sailfin and Yellow only give him a hard time when the Nori is out. They let him take a few bites initially and then he has to keep watch for them. I solved this by getting another clip so I can divide up the Nori.

They don't ever get that aggressive it's more of a chase him off the food type of thing. He is left alone during normal daily activities and even when frozen food is fed. I think it helped that they were all introduced at the same time. I feel like you might get a couple days of aggression before it settles in...just make sure fins arent getting ripped up.

I have multiples with no issues, except with Clown tang.
Clown is a total jerk and one I recommend to NOBODY !!

Desjardini
Achilles
Sohal
PBT
Small clown
Blonde naso
Blue
Chevron
Tomini

The two top contenders for being a holes are the Achilles and PBT to new tang additions. They are relentless for a full day and then let up. I think it happens to work in my tank because of the fact there are so many tangs.

I’d try an acclimation box for a few days and just be prepared for the assault that will probably ensue when you actually release it into gen pop. My tang gang doesn’t mess around for the first couple of days but then all is peaceful again.

if I were you, introducing multiple tangs Is probably gonna help out a lot if you love and want to keep multiple tangs.

I originally had a yellow tang, then maybe 2 years later added a hippo. And my yellow was going to beat it to death, it was very clear. I banished the yellow to the sump for a few days. Then rearranged the rockwork. And when I took the yellow out from his time out, he settled down a lot. They squabbled a little, but not nearly as bad. Maybe you can try that.
