Mur-Lok vs John Guest

Setting up my dosing reservoirs with rigid acrylic tubing and 1/4” tubing. I’ve read the JG creates a better seal with the acrylic. They look the same so what gives between the two?

Great question, I don't know the answer. But I have noticed that some quick disconnect fittings have metal inside, which I think could be a problem. Following.

Same fittings, different companies, I use primarily John Guest fittings myself but own both and haven't noticed any real noticable difference between the two performance wise.

I will add that I have not tried to connect rigid tubing to either so my experience is limited to regular RO tubing.

Hmm I have tried this before and picked up some no-name push connect on amazon.. Definitely a mistake! That did allow a little bit of air in and I was always bleeding the lines to get the air out.

If JG is a better seal, do it!

I plumbed my UV with 1/2" ID...5/8" OD tubing and could not find any JG or Mur Lok fittings for that size. I bought my fittings from a place that sells mainly to drinking water/filter applications. They work very well but you have to be sure to push the pipe in as far as it will go and then pull back to lock it in and seal it.

Here a link but biggest difference is Mur Lock uses two O-rings and JG uses one

I'm going to have to pull a couple of them apart now to figure it out ;Writing I could see it being a little more difficult to push a rod all the way into the Murloc fittings with the dual rings.
