Murder tank

I know the title isnt very appealing but talking with my reef Buddy, we are both thinking of doing our new set ups all black, some people call cars that are all blacked out murdered out

So Have the stand and canopy black, the inside of the stand blacked out, black piping, paint the back and sides of the both the tank and sump black, black silicone for the tank sump and baffles

Then have a led either red or blue inside the stand

Want to do something out of the normal and I also think the colors of the corals and fish will really pop.


Any input on why this wouldn't be a good idea?

For the sump, I would suggest white. When I am down rummaging around in the sump, I want as much light as possible. I have seen people who have black cabinets, stands, and canopys. They look fine. I think your basic idea has merit.

Inside the stand area white? I would put a light on the top of the inside stand to turn on so I can see what I am doing when working. I want to be able to open the doors or remove the doors( havent finalized the stand idea yet) to show off the sump or view it

anyway, I think its cool to do fun new things with tanks but I got into reefing for all the beautiful different colors so Im afraid I wont be any help.
There are some cool black sun corals Ive seen lately. I believe theyre black skeleton with green polyps.

If you are looking for a dark murder tank..... how about a little dry ice too
