Muriatic acid for reducing alkalinity in new SW

If I want to reduce the alkalinity of new saltwater, and I add muriatic acid, does it affect anything besides the alkalinity and pH? I've done this before, and I've not noticed it to affect anything else, but I'm no chemist.

No, it won't impact anything important else, except very slightly boost the chloride (from about 19,000 ppm to 19,050 or something like that).
