Mushroom baby/mother question

Is it normal for the mother mushroom to be smaller and kinda irritated looking after leaving a baby? I have a JB that was bought as a baby 6 months ago and it just popped off 2 babies. I thought I was gonna have to wait at least a year.

Babies are pieces of the mother. So it splits pieces off.

Yeah these were pieces of the foot but the top side of the mother has kinda shriveled up some.
