Mushroom basket feeding

Hello I want to put some of my shrooms into a basket how should I feed them in there. Does it matter when some of the food still rest into the basket or should I suction it?

I'm planing a frag tank and started a little bit of thinking how to create the tank. So yes it might be possible to dip the basket.
