mushroom coral unravelling

i just added my first 2 mushroom corals last night. i left the lights off for them to adjust and turned them on today. they both seemed fine, their colors seem even more vibrant than when i put them in. i just noticed, however that one of the muchrooms is starting to completely unravel itself in long purplish strings that detach and float off. the other coral loked fine, i thought, but it seems to have a similar string like substance floating from its center, but a clear one as opposed to the actual flesh of the coral.
i don't understand how this is happening, all i have are hermits and snails right now. its almost completely gone, as i type this i keep seeing more parts detaching.
by now, i'm assuming that one is lost, but does anyone have any ideas as to what is happening or how i can save the other one?

Have you tested your water? How did you add your corals to your tank? float 15min then add cup of water every 10 min for an hour ...

Sounds like shock from improper aclimation. At this point just observe and cross your fingers.

What is your salinity and temp?

Something has to be off with your parameters, salinity, temp or maybe even too much light for them. Did you start them out low? Shrooms are imo one of the hardiest thing you could put in your tank and will survive pretty much anything. They are literally bulletproof! I believe they are "gutting" themselves out. You probably have lost them. Sorry to say it.

they both gutted themselves and have disappeared. i realize now what happened, it was a combination of mistakes. my tank was leaking from the bottom so i needed to do a tank change. when i changed i got more live rock and 2 mushrooms. live rock was supposed to be cured but it wasn't. also, temp and salinity were way off after the change and i didn't realize. instead of waiting for everything to go back to normal put the corals in, proabably not slowly enough. luckily i got them for $5 each and they weren't that pretty anyway. won't ever make that mistake again... its extremely heartbreaking to sit and watch a beautiful little coral disintegrate itself into pieces. gonna wait a couple weeks till i try again, and going to try the drip method instead next time.

What I do when adding anything to my tank that has worked flawlessly for me for the last 5 years, was this. Instead of dumping in a cup of water at a time every 10 minutes or so, I bought some air pump line and a little adjustable air valve from petco for like $10 and I put one end of the air line in the tank and using the adjustable air valve I drip acclimate everthing. I set the drip to about 2-3 drops per second and I let it run like that for an hour to an hour and a half. In the last 5 years I have never lost anything acclimating like that.

Side note:
You probably lucked out with those shrooms dying off. A single ugly $5 mushroom (as you described it) will quickly turn into a tank full of ugly mushrooms. Mushrooms spread quickly and are difficult to eradicate once established on your main rockwork.
