I haven't added anything to my tank recently and out of the blue I see mushroom coral appearing on my rocks. How is this possible?

Pictures? Just in case it’s something “else”

Hitchhiker cool little shroom
But from where? The last thing added to my tank was clean up crew and a leather coral. Coral was dipped and the verts where rinsed through a strainer after acclimated to avoid putting that filthy water in my DT. This was done 3/4 to be exact and this think popped up last week and some aptasisa

I've had mushroom babies that took me at least 6 months to 'discover'. Heck, I just found 3 new babies on a disc the mother walked off of more than a year ago lol. There are a lot of hitchhikers we never notice, even when we're looking. Looks like there's a baby shroom about a half inch to the right of it too.

You never answered James' question about whether you started with live rock? That very well could be the source. Otherwise I'm guessing it was a hitchhiker on a frag you added (yes, even months and months ago...) that you just never noticed until now.

Dips really don't do much for most algae and a vast number of hitchhikers... only manual removal works for a lot of things.
