I bought this mushroom coral yesterday around 2pm and it was in my tank around 3pm. My tank is about 3 weeks old. I know everyone must think it’s too new but let me tell you how insanely fast my tank cycled. I got diatoms at day 3 of my tank so I added two clown. I like to fish cycle. I also have a freshwater tank that’s roughly about 1 year old. I just started with salt, first timer. Do mushroom corals grow this fast?? It already has latched onto two rocks and has grown up the rock in less than a day! I was told to keep it away from flow and light so I put it on the sand against a rock and then took a fragment of live rock and placed it behind it to the left of the coral. I woke up this morning around 6:30am to notice how insanely fast it grew in a matter of hours! I have zoas and some others that are thriving as well. Is this coral going to take up a lot of space? And is there a coral I shouldn’t put it next to?

It's not that it's "growing" but just spreading out, making itself comfortable. Mushrooms can shrivel up real small when stressed or spread out wide when happy. It looks happy. It might even move and make its home on your rock. And sometimes when they move, they leave behind a little baby Mushroom and that's how they propagate. Usually it's best to keep them on a rock isolated so they don't take over your entire rock work, but that takes a little time and doesn't happen overnight. :D

Dang, and here I am so excited, thinking my tank is ****** lol thanks for the info! I’m super new to this salt game. I really thought it grew cause it was not big when I bought it. It really stretched out them, pretty wild! I have a 20 gallon long tank so it’s hard to get a rock by itself. I figure I just put it on the sand next to the rocks. I have a GPS above it a little ways. Will they run into each other in a bad way? Will one take over the other or are those two okay? I was thinking it would both stop when they cross paths?

Now GSP is a fast grower and will definitely takeover EVERYTHING!! :D You want to make sure to isolate the GSP on an island by itself. And no, they won't hurt each other.
I just bought a 40 gallon. They had them for 50% off at Petco! I couldn't miss that opportunity. I will definitely make an island for the GSP as soon as I transfer everything over. What a pain this will be, but definitely worth it! Thank you :smiling-face-with-halo:

Congrats! That's awesome...40 gallon is the best size! I'm wanting to upgrade to a 40 gallon breeder eventually! :D Enjoy!!

You should!! Go to Petco! They have all their tanks 50% off. I only paid with taxes 64 bucks for a 40 gallon. That is a steal! Go now! lol its the perfect size too. Not too big and definitely not small. What I really love about the 40 gallon that some tanks miss out on, is the girth of it. Its so thick. I love the width of it. So so much space.
