I am thinking of getting some mushrooms (Rodactis and Ricordia type). I understand that you can glue them onto a rock or frag disc...I got that part. Let's say if i want to glue them side by side or on separate small size rocks. They will grow overtime and take over the surface of the rocks completely, is this correct?

If it is, what happen if there is no more rock surface? will it spread down to the sandbed and affix permanently just like on rocks?

First, it is extremely difficult to glue a mushroom onto anything. They secrete a mucus that won't stick so they can move around. Unless they come attached to a small pebble or rock that can be glued to the larger rock, it's best to use thread to tie them to the rock and hopefully they will attach where you tie them.
Once this rock is full the new mushrooms will let loose and will go to whatever place that displeases you the most. :D

thanks for all of the information guys! It looks like Yuma has much better coloration then the Florida ones. I understand that I should not mix the Florida ones and Yuma ones.

I am however looking for the insane color ones. I am in hunting mode

Ive had some problem placing mushrooms. But i found you can stick them on crevaces and holes. They look squished when you place them, but in a few hours they stick themselves in and use the hole as refuge in the night/when the flow is too strong

if your looking for some crazy mushrooms check out the WWC bounce mushroom and the jawbreaker mushroom. I have 1 Jawbreaker that im in the process of growing out and he is super cool

The OP hasn't owned mushrooms before, so starting out with mushrooms this expensive probably wouldn't be the wisest move.

I recently got this Yuma from Blue Seas aquariums.

Being that I am kind of new to mushrooms too, I spoke extensively with Rami at Blue seas and he gave me a bunch of great information on these yumas. They do a lot of aquaculture mushrooms that do much better. It seems to be there specialty to me, even though it is not stated anywhere on their website. Their cover photo on the website is covered with some beautiful shrooms.

that is a really nice mushrooms!!! It looks like even though somehow I manage glue one on a rock, mushrooms can detach by itself and move around?

This one came in on a frag plug. He told me he keeps his under very low light. This was in the corner of his frag tank away from as much light as possible. I just put mine in the sand under an overhang so it gets low light and is looking pretty nice still. Only been a week, I think it will do good though.

When i got my first mushroom I didn't know what to do with it. So I superglued it to where I wanted it to be. It looked awful for a few weeks and eventually detached from the glue and moved an inch below where it stayed. I'm glad I didn't kill it lol.
