Mushroom cutting

I know one of the ways to frag mushrooms is cutting them. Any suggestions/ Tips? I've never done this before but I have some huge shrooms that I'm considering giving a try.

As MERKEY indicated, generally you want to cut directly through the mouth of the shroom and then separate the pieces so they don't grow back together.

I’ve dragged some green hairy mushrooms before. Don’t think too much about it, just slice it straight through the middle. Within a couple of weeks both halves will be back to full mushrooms.

Cut through the mouth, use a fresh razor each time (dulls really fast on live rock/saltwater), ideally don't touch cut areas with your fingers, run some carbon if it's a lot of mushrooms or a larger specimen

Curious, does this apply equally to Discosoma, Ricordea, and Rhodactis?

It does, however, I've had the best luck with using the rubber band trick on my ricordea as opposed to a razor blade- I have no proof it matters, but it's what I do now.

Heres the best mushroom fragging advice i can give.

Make sure theres a piece footed on each of the pieces you cut.

I cut mine into 3rds or 4ths right thru the mouth like a pie. It helps when the shroom is even on the plug too.
Cut the back of disc 95% thru with thin dremel and then gently cut the shroom from the top down where the cuts are.

Heal time is minimal and have never lost any this way
