I've had this mushroom in my tank for a few months now. It's about 6 to 7 inches across when fully spread out. Tonight after my moonlights came on I went to look at this tank. The mushroom is doing this right now. Never seen a mushroom do this before so I have no idea what's going on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The photo has been edited so you can easily see what I'm talking about. It's a white stringy thing coming from the mouth.

It must just went to war with something near it or something is picking at it. I've had my ricordeas looked the same way.

Those are Mesenterial Filaments, they contain nemocyst. Mesenterial filaments are both a mechanism for digestion and aggression/defense. Sometimes corallimorph do this because of stress, most of the time you never know the reason why. That particular corallimorph could be trying to keep the blue cloves at bay.

I also have mushrooms do that from time to time. In my experience it was always stress situation. If I accidently touched them or one of the cuc messed with them etc..

It sucked it all back up about 10 minutes after I first noticed. I don't think those little blue polyps are actually touching it in any way. It's just a really bad picture. It's kind of near that sps but again. Not close to touching it.
